It’s been a little over two months since USC last played Hawaii. The Trojans lost to the Rainbow Warriors in four sets, 3-1. USC was ranked number one at that time and Hawaii was twelfth. Tonight, the situation is a little different. The Trojans are ranked seventh in the nation, and the Rainbow Warriors are only one spot behind in eighth.
Hawaii recently split a two-game series with Cal-State Northridge last week. Up until then, the team hadn’t lost a MPSF game since February 5. USC on the other hand went 3-4 in the month of February against MPSF teams. The Trojans just beat UC Santa Barbara on Friday 3-1.
Opposite hitter Murphy Troy said the team is prepared and knows what to expect since the two schools have played each other before. “Hawaii’s a good team,” he said.
The Trojans will be looking to avenge the early season loss to the Rainbow Warriors, and they’ll have two chances to do that. Both games kick off at 7pm at the Galen Center.
