The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating tonight after a body was discovered on fire in Compton early this morning.
Lt. Henry Saucedo said the body was discovered around 3:15 a.m. at South Oleander Avenue and West Cocoa Street, across the street from Compton High School.
“It was 100 percent evil, brother,” said Saucedo, who went to the scene. “You do this more than 20 years and you think you’ve seen everything.”
“Then you see this.”
It is unclear what exactly killed the victim. Firefighters put out the fire and homicide investigators were summoned to the scene.
“Homicide detectives said the burned body appeared to be that of a man, but that would be determined by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office,” sheriff’s Deputy Aura Sierra said in a statement.
