Baja Earthquake

The Baja Quake rattled nearly 20 million people and aftershocks are still being felt today.

Aftershocks rattled the southwest Mexico-U.S. border on Monday morning following Sunday’s 7.2-magnitude earthquake. The major earthquake killed two people and critically injured one near Mexicali, Mexico – the center of the quake.

The Imperial County Fire Chief says the one critically injured person remains hospitalized in El Centro.

The quake, dubbed the Baja Earthquake, injured hundreds, blacked out cities and forced the evacuation of hospitals and nursing homes.

It was one of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in decades, and was felt as far away as Los Angeles and Phoenix, Mexican authorities said.

Authorities reported a total of 45 collapsed or partially collapsed buildings in Baja California, Mexico.
