Tiger Woods announces he will play at the Masters after a four-month hiatus because of a sex scandal.
“The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect,” Woods said in a written statement released to the media. “After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta.”
It will be Woods’ first tournament since winning the Australian Open last November. Woods returned to the United States where rumors of an affair with a New York City events planner was making tabloid headlines. He then wrecked his SUV in an apparent hasty departure from his Isleworth, FL driveway on Nov. 27.
